Moulded GRP-gratings

Moulded GRP-gratings are produced in a mould. Depending on the grating type, height, pitch and bar width the appropriate mould is selected. The glass fibers are woven in a bond into the form. The number and position of the glass fibers is determined for each type. The resin mix is produced in a mixing tool. The mix consists of the following resins: isophtalic resin, colour pigments additives for fire behavior and UV-inhibitors. The mix is then also poured into the mould, the glass fibers are pressed once more with a comb and the mould gets heated. Heating hardens the material. When the grating has cooled down, it is pressed out of the mould.

We have a wide range of different grating types and panel dimensions. In addition to the stocked panels, many other designs, dimensions and colours can be produced. Standard panels can be cut into individual dimensions. Cutting is carried out on modern CNC machines and panel saws.

The GRP Grating moulded are manufactured with concave, sanded and polished types.

The concave grating type is origin of the moulded gratings. During the heating of the gratings a concave surface is formed on the surface of the bars. This results in a very good slip-resistance. This grating achieve the serration class R13.

The surface of the sanded is subsequently coated with corundum sand (grating type GRP-BK) or quartz sand (grating type GRP-BQ). The grit is applied subsequently with a resin. Gratings type BK – with corundum sanding – are particularly suitable for wet areas or for areas where lubricants and oils are used. This type of grating achieves serration class R13. The quartz sanded gratings are often used in barefoot areas such as swimming pools. This type of grating also achieves serration class R13.

After the production process the concave surface is grinded off. After that the bars are sealed with a varnish to protect the glass fibers. Polished gratings are used where there is a risk of injury due to concave surfaces, e.g. as fence element. This grating type achieves serration class R11.

Pultruded GRP-Gratings

Pultruded GRP-Gratings are manufactured with a high percentage of glass, providing durability and an extremely high strength and stiffness making it the ideal solution for application where longer support spans are required. Provides corrosion resistance, long service life, low maintenance with the low cost of installation, and offers a life cycle cost that is significantly lower than that of metal.
